What a performance, Richard ending up inverted at the first buoy and Brian Senior causing mayhem at the top end of the lake being unable to steer around the top buoy for some reason or other. Altogether an exciting and fun to watch 5 min event. The first of these race days was held on the 22nd July 2012, which was more to test whether there was enough enthusiasm to recommence such events, with proper scrutineering and race rules being adhered to.  All boats will be checked to ensure that they conform to the rules and all competitors will be marshalled individually to ensure that rules are complied with and everything is as fair as possible.  Heats will consist of a maximum of four boats to help alleviate the mayhem that can happen with a larger field and buoyed courses and a starting gate ensure that racing conditions are consistent throughout the events. It is hoped that Club 500 racing will become a regular event again at Kirklees Model Boat Club and the rules being used by the club will ensure that the most skilful skippers will become the winners.  Anyone interested in Club 500 racing at Kirklees can download and read through the competition rules posted in the download section of the site.
